An elderly Neapolitan who lived in the Milanese countryside always had his son help him replant the garden in spring,
but since her son was in prison that year, unfortunately she couldn’t help him.
The old man wrote to his son in prison explaining this little tragedy of his.
“Dear Gennaro, I feel very sad because this year I cannot replant the garden like every year. I am too old to do it myself.
If you were here, I wouldn’t be so sad, because you would take care of re-digging my whole garden. YOUR FATHER
A couple of days later the old man received a letter from his son.
Dear Dad, For goodness sake, don’t dig the garden. I hid all my money and my drugs to sell there. YOUR SON GENNARO
At six o’clock the following morning, the Milanese Carabinieri arrived and dug up the entire garden without finding any trace of the money or the drugs.
Apologizing to the elderly gentleman, the carabinieri leave.
After three days the father receives a letter from his son.
Dear Dad, Now you can replant the garden.
It was the best I could do considering the circumstances. HUG, YOUR SON GENNARO.
